Week 36

Well, to start off the week, I woke up on Sunday morning this week and realized something about pregnant women. Their stomachs are not just round all the time. I'm not sure how Jacob was laying, but I had a mountain on one side of my stomach, while the other end was flat. It surprised me! Guess he's just getting cozy.

Grandpa and Grandma Wilcox (AKA my parents) visited us on Monday. We went out to a Mexican restaurant and had a mini celebration for my birthday the next morning. They were on their way to Utah and brought me some things I had left at their house. It was fun having them stay with us.

This week, I decided that I still wanted to make Jacob a baby blanket. I spent a few hours at the store picking out the fabric. I found a simple, easy to make blanket. The fabric I picked is of course BASEBALL and stripes. I think it will turn out super cute and soft! I'm using minke fabric, if you have ever heard of it. The blanket was Ben approved for sure. I also bought some extra fabric to make these snuggle blankets. They are only 18x22, or "fat square" sized. I started to make one when my sewing machine sounded funny. I decided to give it a break. I cleaned it out, hoping that it would improve. I haven't sewn on it yet, so hopefully it isn't out of order now that I want to make a blanket.

Also this week, I washed all of the bedding for the pack and play. It is set up and ready to rock and roll.

Ben and I went shopping for rockers/gliders this week. We looked at one at Kmart and one at WalMart. It is my birthday present! I think I'm still supposed to act surprised. : )

This week at my doctor's appointment, Jacob's heart rate was 148bpm, which is consistent with 149bpm last week. His heart sounds nice and strong! I measured 36.5 cm, but I'm not sure if the nurse was very accurate, seeing that I was 36cm last week. Oh well! Now to announce to the world, I weigh 174 lb. You can do the math and find out my pre-pregnancy weight because I've gained 34lbs for this pregnancy. I'm happy with that! The doctor felt my belly and announced that Jacob is head down. This time I think he is there to stay. He has felt head down for the last few days. I know this because his head is resting on my bladder! It sure feels funny. lol. Also, this week I discussed with my doctor the protocol for when I go into labor. At least I know where to go and who to call no matter what time of day it is. I also asked what my chances are of having a cesarean with the way my pregnancy has been going, and he said in my case there is a 13% chance. That seems low to me. I'll still be reading up on it, just in case! To finish off my visit, I had to do a group B strep test (most awkward) and have a flu shot. The flu shot made me feel under the weather for a while, but I'm feeling a little better.

NEWS FLASH:
I finally got a hold of the hospital's birthing class center. Its too late to take their 5 week course (Because I only have 4 weeks) So I will try and make it to their Saturday class which lasts all day from 9 am-5pm. And guess what day it is.... OCTOBER 10th! We will try and make it if we can. But before the class I still want to try and do a hospital tour and fill out a birthing plan. It's part of the class, but I'm not taking any risks. All has been quiet on the western front... I haven't felt any Braxton Hicks yet, but you just never know!

How Big is My Baby Jacob?
Well, have you ever heard of a crenshaw melon? I haven't! I guess that is how much he should be weighing. He's supposed to be gaining weight at the rate of 1 oz/day.

Jacob could weigh about 6 lbs, and is 18 1/2 in.

He has been active and happy! Ben and I can't believe we have only four weeks left till we get to meet our little one. On Saturday, I held a friend's baby boy who was only two weeks old. I couldn't believe how cute and little they are when they come. (And how much they sleep! lol.) It was fun and crazy to think that I will have a little boy just like that in a few weeks! I feel so lucky and so blessed to have had an uneventful pregnancy. Look out world, Jacob Joseph is coming soon!

And a belly picture?
Well, I haven't taken one yet, but I will post one!

Week 35

This week, we stayed in Boise for a few days. On Labor Day we had a family breakfast and a neighborhood party. It was fun to see my whole family, and have a day filled with good food! I went shopping with my mom to pick up a few last minute essentials. Ben and I went shopping the Saturday before to buy the car seat and stroller. I finally feel like we are close to being ready. (Physically, but maybe not emotionally yet! :) ) We left Boise on Wednesday and FINALLY came home to our place in Rexburg! It feels like such a long time since we were home.

School started on Thursday. I am only taking one class, Nutrition Through the Lifecycle, on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:15. I am very unexcited about this class because I know that I will be missing a few class days when Jacob comes, and my teacher is big on attendance. I am sure she will be willing to work with me. I am just happy to only have one class. It feels weird not having anything to do on the other days. I will still keep busy though.

Friday was an exciting day! I had a doctors appointment!!! The first in seven weeks! Jacob is doing just fine. The nurse was trying to find his heartbeat, but he kept wiggling around. She said, "I'd ask if he is active, but I can already tell." His heart rate was 149bpm. My uterus is measuring 36cm, so one cm off of my weekly count. I can tell that Jacob is getting very BIG. :) I talked to the doctor about pediatricians. There is only one office of pediatricians and it is next door to my doctor's office. My doctor also felt my belly and told me that it felt like Jacob was head down and that he would most likely stay that way till he delivers. Well, it only took a little while before his head was not down!!! I have one bouncing baby boy!

On Friday night for our date night, Ben and I decided to put together the Pack and Play bed for Jacob. It is so cute! It fits nicely in our room with just a bit of furniture squishing. I am glad we have a big bedroom. We needed batteries for the pack and play so we ran to the store and bought batteries, diapers and wipes! Huggies mailed me some great coupons, so that is the brand we are using.

On Saturday, I gave Ben a haircut! My very first. Jacob was helpful in collecting all of the falling hair! His haircut turned out really nice. Ben set up Jacob's car seat and put it in the car. There isn't really room for it in the back seat unless we move the passenger seat forward. Which will be fine, because I will probably sit in the back with Jacob anyway. We also went to the temple. Its a neat experience to take Jacob with me. I hope it won't be long after he is born that Ben and I can go back.

Alright... the Belly Picture!
Well folks, its a big belly! And people told me I looked small in the beginning... When I went to WalMart on Friday, a man told me I looked ready to pop! And I think I just about am! Its getting harder and harder to bend over these days. And you can see why!

The big 35 week belly. Does is have to get bigger?

How Big is Jacob?
According to babycenter, my little guy is not so little anymore! lol. He is about as heavy as a honeydew melon which is also a delicious treat I've enjoyed eating this summer! No, I don't want to eat Jacob. :)
Jacob weighs about 5 1/4 lb. and is over 18 in.

Week 34

Well, this was Jacob's last week in California. This week I had my second pregnancy massage, which was a wonderful experience! Thank you Shelly! I can tell how much my hips have widened. They are preparing for the "great stretch!"

This week, Jacob and I had some fun in the water. Ben and I went with the boys to the neighborhood lap pool and spent some time getting wet. Its been difficult getting exercise as my belly has grown, and I would have to say that the pool is the most comfortable place. The first time we went, I had a hard time getting out of the water because I had forgotten how much my belly weighed!

To end off the week, Jacob and I had some really good mole that was made by some new friends the Perkins family made while we were there. Jose and Nelly live nearby Jim and Kristy. They invited us over to try their mole. It was a fun experience to spend some time with their family before we came home. We flew back to Idaho on Saturday to spend some more time with my family before going back to school.

How BIG is the belly now?
Well, when I came back to Boise, not having seen my mom for 5 weeks, she was shocked to see how big I am! I really can't see why? :)

34 weeks and counting!

How BIG is Jacob?
Well, babycenter.com is comparing him to a cantaloupe this week. I've had a lot of cantaloupe this summer, and I know how heavy they are!

Jacob is 4 3/4lbs. and almost 18 in.

His kicks are much stronger than before and its been a blast to feel his arms and legs moving around.

Week 33

Well, this blogging mommy has some catching up to do! This week we were still in California with the family. Jacob went to his first baseball game, which I'm sure will not be his last. He'll be an Angel's fan before we know it! Ben and I took Adam and Nathan to the game. Sadly, the Angel's lost, but a ball came into our section of the stadium, which was pretty exciting.

Jacob had his second baby shower! Kristy's mom and sister's put together a cute baby shower at Amy's house. We played fun games and ate A LOT of amazing food! Thank you to everyone in the family who came! And thank you for the presents. Again, Jacob is a lucky boy. He will be the best dressed baby! Ben and I appreciate all of the love and support!

Me, all dressed up as the "Mommy to Be"

How Big is Jacob?
Lets just say he was bigger than he was before! I'm starting to feel knees and elbows! Adam and Nathan were able to feel Jacob kick a few times this week! I think they were surprised to feel how strong he can really kick. Jacob weighs about as much as a pineapple.

Jacob is a little over 4lbs and has passed the 17 in. mark

Week 31 and 32

So is anyone else watching the countdown? AH! Time has just been flying by. It feels like just yesterday that I had the cute little bump. Now I've got.... THE BELLY! Ben and I went to breakfast at Denny's this morning and a lady told me, "You look like you are about done!" I told her I have till October... so I don't know if its a good thing to look like I'm at the end, when really I'm not quite there.... oh well! I am definitely full of baby!

Week 31:
This week was calm and quiet. Not much new. I had a baby shower this weekend at Grandma Sandra's house and it was a lot of fun! Aunt Ginny and Janae came. We played a few silly games and ate the most delicious cake! Also the cutest cake I've ever seen!

The cute baby shower cake!

I was so happy because I now have a Pack and Play. Jacob will be sleeping in it for the first few months, till we have a house and we have room for a crib. So, thanks to Momma Shauna and everyone who came to the shower!
Jacob weighs as much as four oranges! 3.3 lbs, 16 inches.

Week 32:
This week has been fun! I went and bought a pair of walking shoes so I could go walking in the morning. Ben and I are staying at his dad's house in California till September 5th, and they have a beautiful neighborhood. I've been walking everyday! Go me! I know that I will need as much exercise as possible. I also went swimming with Ben. That was interesting. I'm not a very good swimmer, but it felt good to be in the water. This week I also had my first pregnancy massage. Kristy has a lady come over to the house and I decided to get a massage too. It felt really good, except for the massage in the lower back. I guess those are the muscles that stress the most because my hips are widening. I'm still a little sore, but it was a fun experience. Too bad my muscles go right back to being sore. :)

Jacob weighs about as much as a jicama, 3.75 lbs. 16.7 inches long.

How I'm Feeling:
Well, this past week I have just felt like there is so much to do, and so little time! Ben and I haven't taken a birthing class yet because our stay in California has caused some scheduling conflicts with the hospital birthing classes in Rexburg. We will still try and fit one in. I also got a copy of What to Expect in the First Year, and I've started reading the first few chapters that talk about what to buy for baby, and everything you need to know about breast feeding, etc. I still have a lot of reading to do, but its helping me feel more prepared. I'm just a nervous and excited wreck! I'm so happy to have Ben because he helps calm me down when I start to get too anxious and antsy. I can't wait to get home so I can get everything ready at home. I want to put some meals in the freezer so I can spend time with Jacob when he comes. If anyone has any freezer meal ideas, send them my way. I'm always looking for good recipes!

Week 29 and 30

Week 29:
Well, Jacob and I spent this week at Grandma's house in Boise! Jacob had a relaxing week while I got things ready for our trip to Cabo San Lucas. Grandma bought him some receiving blankets that I am sure he will love! I also received some cute clothes from Steph, and a gift basket from Cindy! Thank you Thank you! Jacob is one lucky boy!

Week 30:
Our week in Cabo was really HOT! The temperature "felt" like 130 degrees according to the forecast. I didn't feel guilty about spending time in the air conditioned rooms. The rest of the hotel was open with fans, which didn't quite cut the heat. Jacob was pretty chill during the day. I'm not sure if we could both manage the heat. But when I got inside he kicked up a storm. One night Ben actually felt him roll over. He got really excited. Its fun to guess which body parts we are feeling! We both can't wait to kiss the cute toes we can feel sticking out of the side of my belly!

I will try and post a belly picture for next week! It's getting mighty big and will only get bigger!

And for those of you baby shower goers, I am now registered at Babies R Us and Target. I haven't finished the Target registry because I tried to do it online. I will have to go finish it at the store. I didn't register for clothes because I figure everyone will want to pick something out on their own. I would ask, if you are getting clothes, to get all kinds of sizes. I'm not sure how big Jacob will be, but I know he will grow fast! Thank you!!!

How Big is Jacob?
Well, he is getting bigger and bigger! I love it! Week 29 his weight was comparable to this nice squash right here.

Jacob weighs about 2 1/2 lbs and is a tad over 15 inches.

Week 30, Jacob should weight about as much as this cabbage. Cabbages have never looked cuter! Lots for mommy to love!

Jacob weighs about 3 lbs and is 15 3/4 in.

How I have been feeling:
I still feel really good. The heart burn and the backaches won't get the best of me! I'm into the stage where my ribs start hurting after I have been sitting for a while. Plus I am enjoying the benefits of swollen feet... whatever those are. :) Most of all I've just enjoyed feeling Jacob kicking. My favorite thing to do is to lay down and hold my belly. (He kicks more when I lay down. Or I can feel it better.) I just imagine what he looks like and what it will be like to meet him at the hospital in October! I've never been so in love! My little family will feel so complete now that Ben and I will have a little one to call our own! I feel so lucky and so blessed! I couldn't be happier right now.

Week 28

This week was about the busiest week of my life! lol. All of my finals and projects were due this week. I am happy that I am only taking one class next semester. It will be so much easier that five classes! I went to the doctor's this week; one last visit before vacation. I had a glucose test, and that came back normal. Jacob's heart rate was 150 bpm, and my uterus measured 29 cm. Everything is still going well. Jacob has become more active. I can start to feel arms and legs when he kicks. He stuck his foot out, and I could feel it! It was bitty, so he is still growing. I'm getting more excited for him to come so I can give him kisses! Ben started a baby registry. We are going to register at Babies R Us, and maybe one more place. Our registry is quite premature. We wanted to go to the store and check things out before we put them on our registry! Ben registered for a "man" diaper bag. I think it is hilarious that they make masculine diaper bags.

How big is Jacob?

Jacob is almost equal in weight to a chinese cabbage-- 2 1/4 lbs, and almost 15 in.

Week 27

Well, not much new. School kept me super busy! I have a picture! I don't have my camera card, so I will post it later! : )

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Week 26

Well, first off, I had a doctor's appointment this week. My uterus measured 26 inches, and Jacob's heart rate was about 155 if I remember right. The doctor said his heartbeat was nice and strong. The doctor asked if I was interested in taking the glucose tolerance test. I didn't think it was an option. He told me that I was not high risk for gestational diabetes. I think I will still take the test at my next doctor's appointment. Just so I know for sure. I have another doctor's appointment in two weeks. The doctor wants to see me one last time before we go on vacation and stay in California for about a month. He just wants to make sure Jacob is still doing well. I'm pretty sure Jacob is just fine. He is much more active these days. It does make it a little difficult to fall asleep at night, but I'm adjusting to his movements.
Jacob is about 14 inches long and weighs about a pound and 2/3

So, this Sunday, there was a girl in the ward who had her baby 2 weeks ago. She has the same doctor that I have and she said she had a great delivery experience, so that was good news for me. She let me hold her little girl. She was so cute!!! I told Ben, "Soon we will be holding a little baby just like this, but he will be our baby!!!" It was such a special experience.

An Updated Belly Picture: 26 weeks and 1 day

How I've Been Feeling:
I'm still feeling pretty good. My stomach hasn't really grown lately, its just become tighter. I don't remember seeing the inside of my belly button, and now it is completely flat! I told Ben today that I think I'm starting to waddle a little bit. haha... I knew it was going to come to this! My only complaint that I have is the acid reflux. My doctor told me to take Zantac everyday, but I haven't bought any yet. Other than that... I'm getting by just fine. School hasn't been too overwhelming, but I will be glad when it is over. This week, I put all of Jacob's clothes in the closet and I put his bath things in the bathroom. This apartment is perfect for a new addition. It was so fun to do a little nesting! I can't wait to do more!!!

Week 24 and Week 25

Well, I am writing about two weeks at once...

Week 24: This week was pretty uneventful. I got sick last Sunday, and I was sick for the whole week. I only went to classes two of the five days that week. The rest of the time I was sleeping to try and get better as fast as I could. I only started feeling better when I found out I could take Sudafed, and it took care of my symptoms.

Week 25: I've started to feel better! There were only 3 days of school this week! On Wednesday we are going to be taking off to Boise to celebrate the 4th of July with my family. While I'm down there I'm going to be making burp cloths with my mom! I am really excited! I really want to start putting things in their places; ready to go for baby Jacob when he comes!

How Baby is Doing: Well, Jacob has been a trooper. Although I have been sick and sleeping, he seems to be just fine. He loves to kick around. My next doctor's appointment is July 9th. I thought I was going to have another ultrasound, but I won't be. : (

How Baby is Growing:

Week 24: This week baby Jacob is starting to fill out proportionally. He's going to start putting on some fat. His brain, taste buds, and lungs are developing this week. Jacob has grown to the length of an ear of corn, so when you are eating some this weekend at your BBQ, you will think of him!

Jacob is just over a pound, and almost a foot long

Week 25: Jacob is still working on growing some new baby fat. He is supposed to be working on some more hair. Time will tell whether he will come with lots of hair of not! Ben wasn't born with that much hair, but I came with some great fuzz. Jacob will grow to about 13 inches this week, and be about a pound and a half! He's getting so big! I told Ben that I can start to feel it taking its toll on my body. My belly is poking out more and more each week. I will have to take some pictures this weekend!

Apparently this is a rutabaga-- Jacob will grow to a pound and a half.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Week 23

I have really been terrible about writing week to week. After week 20, I hit the halfway point, and every week has flown by since then! Ben keeps asking me, "How big is the baby now?" And I have no clue! I know he is doing great! He is flipping and kicking! Ben has been able to feel him kick, and he gets so excited! Ben always comes up to feel my belly, and Jacob will be sleeping. On Sunday, I hadn't felt Jacob move a lot, and Ben wanted to feel him move. I told Ben, "Sorry, he doesn't kick on demand!" lol. By night time though, he woke up, and was just going crazy! Ben was able to feel him kick several times in a row. Ben got so excited to feel him moving! I love it because I feel like Ben can be a part of this pregnancy. I'm not the only one who gets to have all the fun now!

Jacob is about the size of a large mango this week:
Jacob is just over a pound and is 11 in. long

I told Ben on Friday... "Ben, at some point within the next 17 weeks, I'm going to announce to you that my water has just broken, and we are going to run to the hospital. Has that hit you yet?" Of course, he tells me that I shouldn't think about it because I will scare myself. The truth is, I'm not really scared. (Ask me on the way to the hospital!) They have pain medicine, and I trust the doctors at the hospital. They deliver so many babies at Madison Memorial, that it is a regular thing. Plus, by then, I will be ready for the baby to come out! haha.. for now, I enjoy his little kicks and punches. But when they become full on karate moves, it will be time for him to move out and let daddy take a turn! lol!

Just for Fun!

The ultrasound technician gave us a CD of the ultrasound pictures. When I put it them on my computer, I noticed that there were little video clips. I liked this one a lot and wanted to share it. I've been feeling his movements, and it was so exciting to watch them on the screen.

This is the baby moving around in the womb.

IT'S A BOY!

Well, the happy day has finally arrived. Unfortunately it was also the day the doctors office decided to run exceptionally slow! We are having a baby boy! The ultrasound technician said that he looked nice and healthy, and the placenta is in a great place, so I should deliver just fine. He is about 1 pound right now. The baby is measuring a due date of October 14, so he's coming sometime that week. Ben and I are so excited. I did have a feeling it was a boy, but I didn't say much in case it was a girl. Ben was almost ecstatic! When we got home from the doctor's office, he was so excited he poured juice into a bowl instead of a cup! That, and he's talking baseball already! We couldn't be happier!

Well folks... here are the pictures!

Here is the big debut! There is a light grey arrow pointed at his genitals.

This is a little baby hand.

Here is the crown of his head.

And a profile shot. You can see his head, and his spine really well.

Week 19

Almost half way there!

Well, this week has been pretty uneventful, unless I am feeling the baby, but I'm not quite sure.... hmm... I could be almost positive. We are getting closer to June 11--the day of the "gender" ultrasound. Baby sure is growing. I measured how long the baby is, and put it up to my stomach. I have no idea how everything is still fitting inside of me!

By the end of this week, baby will be 8.5 oz, 6 in.

The First Nesting Urges
So, yesterday, Ben and I went to WalMart together, and I drug him down the baby isle to look at all the things we will need for the baby. He's not too excited about me wanting to buy everything but I told him that I was just "nesting." (AKA trying to get the home ready for the baby.) Ben wants to wait until we know if it is a boy or a girl, but I have a feeling, I just might buy a few gender neutral things before this week is over. I just can't help myself. (Benefits: This whole pregnancy will become a reality if I have a drawer full of onesies, and bath accessories in the bathroom.) Yay!

Week 18

Well, Ben and I went to the doctor on Monday. His name is Dr. Meredith, with Targhee Women's Clinic. We were hoping to have another ultrasound, possibly one that would reveal the sex of our baby, but we quickly learned that we are supposed to schedule an appointment for an ultrasound. I was so spoiled to have an ultrasound at every visit with the last doctor. So at our visit we only heard the baby's heart beat. The nurse said it was nice and strong--144 bmp. It was comforting to get to hear the heart beat. This is becoming more real to me as time goes on. My fears and doubts are beginning to subside little by little. SO! Important: Our next doctor's appointment is June 11th at 3:00pm. That appointment will include an ultrasound. Mark your calendars and be sure to check back with us. I hope it doesn't take too many tries to see the baby's sex.

How the baby is growing:
Well, for those of you who love bell peppers, this is your special week! The baby will grow to the size of a bell pepper, but please don't eat the baby!

The baby is as big as a bell pepper. (7 oz., 5 1/2 in.)

As of lately, I have been trying to tune into the different movements and feelings located in my belly. I am not sure if I have felt a true kick, but I very well could have. There is so much commotion down there, that I haven't really figured out what exactly I am feeling. So, as the weeks progress, I'll try to feel more carefully for the kicks!

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Week 17

It is sad to say, but I am writing this post facto. It was a nice and pleasant week. My only complaint was a serious headache. I think I will attribute it to the rainy weather we were having. Other than that, I have been busy with school. I scheduled my doctor's appointment for Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2:40. It will be the start of my 18th week. I hope that they do an ultrasound so we can find out who we are having! Is it Jacob, or Embree? Well, we aren't officially decided on names, but those are the two floating at the top. We will let everyone know what we know! Lets just hope the baby isn't shy!

The first belly picture!

We had a Mother's Day photo shoot last night. I tried to capture the belly in the best way possible. Ben was a great coach. We have decided that I am "bumpin." Haha! We took quite a few pictures, and I thought this picture showcased my "bump" the best--I don't think I look all that amazing. The skin still needs some clearing up! Where is that "glow" they talk about? : )

Week 16

Well, this past weekend, we took a trip down to Boise. It was great getting to see my family and catch up on good times. I also got to do a bit of shopping! YAY! I got some new clothes that will fit great throughout the whole pregnancy. It was fun, in the dressing room at Motherhood they have a little pillow that you can strap around your waist to see what you will look like at 9 months. I say if I don't eat too much junk food, I just might be cute at 9 months! Uncomfortable, I'm sure, but cute! It's been great having new clothes because I don't dread getting dressed in the morning. It was difficult trying to squeeze into something tight that made my stomach itchy. When I put my new clothes in my closet, I finally brought out an old suitcase and packed it full of the small clothes. The goal is to fit into those when the baby comes... right....

On the bright side, I think Ben has realized that I am pregnant. Whether he has made that connection with being a father, I can't be sure. He saw a pregnant woman at church who was a month further than I was. She had a more prominent stomach, and Ben told me that reality would hit when I reached that point. Since then, he can't stop touching my stomach, and I think that he's getting used to the idea. It has been an adjustment even for me. Right now I'm at the point where I don't feel sick, but I don't feel the baby yet. It's an awkward inbetween. Now I'm just waiting to grow. I am happy to say that I feel great. I've even had the confidence to tell a few more friends that I am pregnant. My friend Savannah had already guessed, but she didn't want to ask. (She knows the drill....)

The baby is about the size of an avacado! 4 1/2 in. 3 1/2 oz.

Well, lets talk about my baby! (Or my delicious piece of fruit, as I love to compare the baby to!)
We are working on an avacado this week. (Is that a fruit or a vegetable?) I need to take a stomach picture and post it so everyone can see the progress of my belly. I've got just a bump, but its enough to make me proud.

I haven't decided on the doctor yet. (Thanks for the recommendations Janene.) I need to make an appointment ASAP. I am so excited for the next ultrasound, as I am sure everyone else is. I'll be sure to post it. My next doctor's appointment needs to be within the next couple weeks.

Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter... Mmm...

Side Note: While shopping at Motherhood, I decided to purchase a nice lotion for my belly. I picked up Mamma Bee Belly Butter made by Burt's Bees. I love the smell. I have never been a true fan of cocoa butter, but this one smells really good.

Week 15

Well, this week, things are going well. The realization of the pregnancy has not quite set in yet, but we are constantly talking about the baby. Especially after moving into our new place. "We'll put the baby's clothes in here, and the baby's things will go in the second bedroom, etc. etc." I am still on a quest for a doctor in Rexburg. My next door neighbor works as a nurse at the Madison Hospital here in Rexburg, and she says that most girls are starting to use midwives. I'm going to have to sit down and think about that one for a while. I'm thinking OB-GYN, but there aren't very many options in Rexburg.

The baby will grow to the size of an apple this week.

How I have been feeling:
I have been feeling great--no upset stomach all the time. I feel like I have more energy which will be great because for the rest of Week 15, I will be going to school! Tomorrow is the first day of classes. (April 20) I'm feeling confident that I will be able to handle school, now that I feel the worst is over. (We'll see if I remain as optimistic.)

Baby Clothes!

Tonight we received our very first piece of baby clothing! I'll gladly accept different shirts from around the country!

Yes, Grandpa Jim, Grandma Kristy, Uncle Nathan, and Uncle Adam.

Week 14

Little Baby Perkins

Today was my 13 weeks, and 3 days appointment. Everything is going well. The baby is doing just fine. We heard the heartbeat again. This time is was 154 bpm, which made me relax a little. I can see how my body is starting to change on the inside, and I'm getting excited for the baby to grow! My doctor's appointment was fairly quick. I was hoping to see more of the baby in the ultrasound. You know, look for fingers and toes. I still have time before we get the "thumbs up" ultrasound. I'm just getting excited. This appointment relieved a lot of my stress and nervousness. That is why Ben is calling all of you! I have agreed to announce the pregnancy because everything is going so well. Its not over yet, but so far so good!

The baby is about the size of a lemon this week.

This week we have been packing all of our stuff to move back to Idaho, and I'm trying to be as careful as I can! Our next doctor's appointment will be in 3 or 4 weeks. I have to find a good doctor in Rexburg. I'll be making this choice carefully because they will be the person who delivers the baby! So stay tuned!

Take a look inside! This is baby at 14 weeks.

Surprise!

Ben and I are expecting a new addition to our family! We decided to keep it a surprise until the first trimester is over. We have had two ultrasounds so far. The first ultrasound was at 4 weeks, and the baby was too small to see. Our second ultrasound was on March 18, 2009. The doctor measured the baby to be 9 weeks, and 4 days, thus giving us the due date of October 17, 2009. Congratulations to mom! It's your birthday! The baby is doing very well. We heard the heartbeat. 180 bpm, which is a bit high, but still on the safe side.

How Alicia Has Been Feeling:
I have been feeling fine thus far. The nausea hasn't been too overwhelming. The only time I have thrown up was when I was gagging on a mouthful of toothpaste. (It defeated the purpose of brushing!) The only food "craving" I've had is potatoes, and when has that not been the case for me?! The other food I've enjoyed is green grapes! Eating candy makes me sick, and they have been a healthy substitute!

I will keep everyone posted on my progress. I'll try and post all of my ultrasounds, and the "belly" pictures. I don't have a huge one just yet. Just an itty bitty bump. I've been really excited that the pregnancy has been going so well. Of course I am nervous about how the baby is doing, but it really is too soon for me to tell. Our next doctor's appointment is on April 14, 2009--the day we will be making the big announcement. (Only the parents have known!)

How Ben is Feeling:
Ben is really excited for the new coming baby. Occasionally he will even have sympathy morning sickness. Lol. He has been very supportive of my constant need to eat, and takes good care of me! I don't think the reality of the pregnancy has really set in for him. I'll let you know when that happens. : )

A Magical Blue Line

I found out that I was pregnant on February 16, 2009. I had a feeling that I should take a pregnancy test a few days before, but I was playing chicken. It would have been a great Valentine's Day present. I e-mailed it to Ben while he was a work, and he wanted to tell the whole world. The best day for a wife is the day she announces a pregnancy to her husband.

Yay! The happy blue line!
